It’s always nice to learn a bit more about the person you may want to have help you in your training efforts.
My name is Karen, I live in North Idaho (Bonners Ferry) with my husband, Steve, and a few dogs as well as a sometimes irritating cat.
I began my dog training quite by accident. I was all set to begin my pre-med training for naturopathy at Bastyr University in Washington when a dear friend and dog trainer (Becky Bishop – Puppy Manners) asked me to help her with some puppies she was socializing.
I was hooked.
I spent the next two years apprenticing and attending conferences and training seminars by a variety of professional dog trainers – all over the United States.
Over the years (Since the mid 1980’s), I have continued to access new research, better training methods and increased knowledge of how important that human-animal bond is to having a dog in our lives that we love.
I used my love of dogs, experience with troubled youth and joy of helping others to begin a non-profit, Pawsitive Works. Pawsitive Works provides canine assisted learning programs to youth serving organizations. Learn more here.
